Heading down to Anime Expo...

I am off to Anime Expo. From what I've heard, it's the largest anime convention on the west coast. As with other conventions I have been to, either anime cons or other ones, I plan on spending most of my time in the Artist Alley, though there are a few panels I might check out as well.

I'm excited to see how this convention compares to Fanime, WonderCon, and the Alternative Press Expo. I'm excited to meet new people. I'm just, well, excited all around, I guess.

I hope to update this journal once a day, but given that I'm not sure what my internet access will be, it remains to be seen if that will be possible. UPDATE: Now that I know what my internet access is like...it's definitely not possible.

Oh, and when I'm in the Artist Alley and not wandering around talking to artists, I should be around tables A09 and A10. If you're reading this and you are there, stop by and say hello!

I am a graduate student at University of California at Berkeley’s School of Information. I am doing a research project on how people incorporate the web into their art and media-making activities.

A great deal of my research involves hanging out online, particularly on here on deviantART where there a lot of people doing a lot of different kinds of work. My hopes are to better understand some of the main issues that are involved when artists put their work online and get involved in different activities.
